Russian Parliamentary Elections: Protest and Communism

Russian Protesters

About a week ago the Russian Federation had parliamentary elections, with surprising and welcomed results. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation received around twenty percent of the vote gaining thirty-five seats and making the Party the second largest in the country. The anti-communist United Russia Party of Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev lost seventy-seven seats and now only have about fifty percent of the vote (from around sixty-four last election). This represents a good sign for Russia, we here at RCPC wish Gennady Zyuganov and CPRF the best of luck.

In other related news, it is very likely the elections were slated in favor of the ruling party: United Russia. Mikhail Gorbachev said “The country’s leaders must admit there were numerous falsifications and rigging and the results do not reflect the peoples’ will” and has called for another vote altogether. The largest protests in the history of the Russian Federation have taken place over voter fraud and election rigging. The RCPC stands with the workers in solidarity, onward to revolution!
